Farid Rueda fills Catalonia Hotels & Resorts with art and color

Farid Rueda is a young Mexican artist, famous for his incredible and colorful urban murals replete with references to the imagery where he reflects the culture of Mexico with the influence of pre-Hispanic cultures.

He collaborates in innovative events of art and tries to link himself with cinema, dance, photography, and painting. Most of his murals are in Mexico and he has worked in countries such as Spain, France, Croatia, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, among others, bringing to each corner the color and joy of our culture.

From a young age he was attracted to the art world and when choosing his way as a student did not hesitate to choose the faculty of Fine Arts to make his passion a way of life.

His work not only enriches the walls of the streets through vivid colors and infinity of textures but also marks a call for attention on social and environmental conflicts.

Catalonia fills with art and color!

We invited this wonderful artist to express his traces on one of the buildings of our family resort in Mexico, Catalonia Riviera Maya.

The sea turtle is one of the most representative and admired animals in the Mexican Caribbean. The seven species that exist in the world nest on the coasts of Mexico, and four of them specifically in Quintana Roo.

As part of the commitment to the environment, Catalonia Hotels & Resorts supports the protection and conservation of these beautiful species, so we ask Farid Rueda to make a mural of vivid colors and history, inspired by the Mayan, Huichol and Purépecha cultures, integrated to our hotel and the beautiful landscape of the Caribbean Sea.

Farid said: “With this mural I wanted to transmit the love for my country, the color, the forms, is what I’m trying to achieve all the time in the works I do, it’s a pleasure for me to be here and leave a piece that seems to me very important by the subject.”

The artist wanted to translate several symbols in this mural, for example, the eggs represent the nesting of the turtle that is so important in the Caribbean area. Corals and fish represent the ecosystem where this species develops.

This incredible work was carried out for four days and the result will be present to the delight of all our visitors, who now, besides enjoying the Caribbean, can admire the great work of this innovative artist.
